Social Dimensions of immigration today

It is an undeniable fact that more and more refugees come to Greece in search for a better future. However, coming to Greece they come up against various social problems.
First of all , refugees experience racism.A typical example of this kind of racism took place in metro route a refugee baby couldn't stop crying and a Greek passenger began cursing both the mother and the baby and telling them that they are rubbish that dirty his country. The woman embarassed and unable to react, since she neither understood Greek nor had the strenght, kept her head low and said nothing.
Another problem worth mentioning is refugees also face social marginalization.
Although Greek covernment respecting refugees' right to education gives them the opportunity to education by enrolling in schools near their place of residence , the majority of the local population protests against it by reversing to send their children to school , claiming that their children's interaction with the refugees will lead to the former's corruption.
Lasr but not least , refugees are living in inhuman conditions in the areas organised to accomodate them some of them live in tencts or in the special cases that they live in buidings they are forced to co-live with more people than it is possible.
On the other hand, there is a part of the refugee population that cause a lot and various problems , such as thefts or vandalisms. What is more there have been cases of repe both of women refugees and native women as well as cases of beating.
All in all, it is obvious that refugees can be an easy target since their situation renders them voiseless, but we shouldn't forget that there are also a lot of Greeks that don't see refugges as a treat and help them by offering whatever they can. Those people should be an example for all peple to show that they are willing to help other people in need because tomorrow they themselves can be in a similar situation.
