From the past to the future - my own poem

BY MY COLLEAGUE SUDE MUSTAFA

With the knowledge he doesn't posses
his restless body shakes
his family trying to calm him
leaving is harder than it seems
not for a new area but for a new world
new beggings scares him
the  unknown scres him
weird it brings a joy too
an advetures spirit rises within
'step in ' says a voice
tiny body of his standing
with his heart beating fast
he is waiting to open the door
that door which leads to a new life
to the life of nightmares and dreams
every day opens up a new chapter
a new hope arises with each smile
past or future does it really matter
when you do the same in both
immigration, migration or emigrate
say what you want
same pain, same joy,same change

Ahmad Abu Alkass - Writer , teacher in Damascus, Syria

Ahmad Abu Alkass - Writer , teacher in Damascus, Syria

More than 9000 Syrian refugees are stranded at Idomeni, near the Greek border with Macedonia hoping to get across to the rest of Europe. Among them is Ahmad Abu Alkass, who worked as a writer and a teacher in Damascus, before he fled his home in search of safety. Remember is his poem about the war in his country.

Immigration and Literature

In refugee literature, the first memories and interpretations of the collective injuries are tested, as prose writers from Asia Minor are witnessing this period of disgrace for Hellenism. They record, also comment and describe in the most convincing way their impressions of what they have heard and what they have lived.
