Social Dimensions of immigration today

It is an undeniable fact that more and more refugees come to Greece in search for a better future. However, coming to Greece they come up against various social problems.

First of all , refugees experience racism.A typical example of this kind of racism took place in metro route a refugee baby couldn't stop crying and a Greek passenger began cursing both the mother and the baby and telling them that they are rubbish that dirty his country. The woman embarassed and unable to react, since she neither understood Greek nor had the strenght, kept her head low and said nothing.

Another problem worth mentioning is refugees also face social marginalization.

Although Greek covernment respecting refugees' right to education gives them the opportunity to education by enrolling in schools near their place of residence , the majority of the local population protests against it by reversing to send their children to school , claiming that their children's interaction with the refugees will lead to the former's corruption.
